Marty Valade was born on the Canadian border in upstate New York where he grew up playing baseball, hockey and golf. He later graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with degrees in Hotel & Business Administration.
Marty's financial career began in 1986 as an advisor with Dean Witter, which later merged and became Morgan Stanley. In 2001 he left Morgan Stanley to become an independent advisor and create Murphy Financial Services with Mike Murphy and his highly distinguished public accounting firm Murphy, Murphy & Murphy CPA Inc.
With over 3 decades of experience, Marty says his best advice would be "Think long term as an investor. Most young investors just getting started believe long term is lunch time. Virtually all investors who succeed in the long run do so by continuing to act on their plan, while investors who fail most often do so by setting the plan aside and react to the markets. The relatively few investors who achieve their lifetime goals do so, in many cases, because they ultimately accept their advisor’s consistently best advice. Remember, if your goals and your plan for achieving them haven’t changed, don’t change your portfolio."
