Mike was born alongside of his twin and future business partner, Patrick. He was raised with his family of fourteen children in the South Bay area. He attended Junipero Serra High School in Gardena and went on to graduate cum laude from California State University, Long Beach. While in college he was a member and officer of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was also a member of Beta Alpha Psi and the Accounting Society.
Following graduation, Mike went to work for Arthur Young and Company, now Ernst & Young, one of the Big 4 accounting firms. In 1980 he started the Murphy & Murphy team along with his twin brother, Pat.
Mike emphasizes the values of relationships and friendly environment of Murphy, Murphy & Murphy. Making a difference in the lives of his family & friends and clients & co-workers is important to him. He is very active outside of MFS, being involved with such groups as Christian Family Retreat, The Haynes Memorial Fund and Saints Simon and Jude Church American Family Housing, Santiago Retreat Center, and Wells of Life.
